My first professionally published comic: An anthology piece written by--of all people--John Arcudi (B.P.R.D., The Mask)!

REAL WEST #1 Cover Preview by ACZamudio

Last year, I snatched the opportunity to take a SCAD class: Western Comics. My teacher Chris Schweizer put an incredible amount of effort into the class, teaching us all the ins and outs of the genre, organizing field trips, teaching us to analyze western comics and films, assigning us to design various western subjects (which you might remember from my gallery), and ultimately giving us this incredible opportunity to create a professional comic to be submitted to the anthology "REAL WEST." Needless to say, the class was a huge success. The man is greatly responsible for helping kickstart my career and giving me invaluable knowledge, and I couldn't be more grateful to him.

You can read more about the class on Schweizer's blog HERE.

He organized the anthology with professional writers John Arcudi, Gregg Taylor, and Kevin Church, of whom I was privileged to draw Arcudi's wonderful story. (I was insistent to have it! It's great!) "REAL WEST" will also feature stories from other professionals and my fellow talented students. Arcudi and I are starting off the anthology's release with "REAL WEST #1"!

Please support Arcudi and me and the other talents featured there. You can PREORDER "REAL WEST #1" today and ORDER it WEDNESDAY!

EDIT: Yeah it's available Wednesday, Sept 25, not tomorrow. My mistake!

Just got it and loved it. Big fan of John Arcudi. Your artwork is really great, especially those shot choices and the storytelling. Favourite: last page, first panel the way his gun hand is bent so awkwardly/angle of his head emphasizes the tragedy (trying not to give away too much!).

Thanks a bunch, man! It means a lot to hear that!
Same here. I was really glad to have the chance to work with him.

I will say, that cover's really hard to look at. Just that you guys used such a common stock font for the logo, it comes off as amateur, when the interiors clearly prove otherwise. Still, I really enjoyed that first issue. The art is stellar and I can't wait to see more from you.
